Merry Christmas!
We hope you are having a wonderful Christmas season and have a few moments in the midst of all your preparations to reflect on Christ and His amazing love. This is definitely our favorite time of year.
This year has been a busy one. We’ve been busy working; David at Intel and Sarah selling Mary Kay and watching baby Kennedi and her big sister Brinn, for the Lang family (the family we sponsored with the youth group for Christmas last year). Kennedi Lang went to be with the Lord on December 1st. She had been suffering from a chromosomal disorder called Partial Trisomy Six. She lived 17 months, and wasn't expected to live beyond 4 months. We feel blessed to have had as much time to spend with Kennedi as we did.
One of the major highlights for us this year is our youth group. We’ve had so much fun with the youth. This year we started a new program called “Inside Out”. This is a once-a-month, action packed evening where we get the youth together and play some fun outdoor games, eat yummy food, listen to a guest speaker teach about Jesus, worship, and play video games. Some elements have been particularly crazy… like our padded weapon battles! Sunday morning we have a weekly gathering with the youth that’s a bit more serious. We went on a mission’s trip to the Yakama Indian Reservation in Washington this summer with 11 of the youth, went to a hockey game, went snow tubing, and we’re planning an overnighter this month. Can’t wait!
Then there’s CrossFire. This is our new ministry aimed at the college age bracket. God has blessed us with many very gifted and devoted individuals who have made CrossFire a joy. We started Sunday, October 7th, and have about 30 people there each week. Not a bad start. We look forward to seeing what God will do through CrossFire.
David's Dad and Mom came to visit in October, and boy was that a blast! It’d been several years since they had been here, and almost 2 years since we had seen them. We had a very relaxing week and had a lot of time to just talk and enjoy one-another’s company. It was hard to go back to the grind after having such a nice break!
Our kitties Sarge and Cali are doing well. The vet said they needed to lose some weight, so we put them on a diet, and they’re down to a normal weight now. They turned 2 years old this year, but they still play like kittens every day. We love them!
The most exciting news for us this year is that we're in the process of buying our own place. We've been talking about it for some time, and we feel God is telling us now is the time to get out of our current rental situation considering how low the interest rates are right now (5.625% for 30 yrs. Fixed). After looking at numerous places, we decided a condo would be the best route for us. We found one that we really like and our closing date is December 19th. We'll be able to build equity but also be able to stay in town where all of our jobs and ministry opportunities are right now. God has been so good to us... far beyond what we could expect or hope.
We hope that your family is happy and healthy this Christmas Season!
God Bless – David and Sarah Rossing... and Sarge and Cali too!!
